Uttarakhand: Piles of filth in Haridwar after Kanwar fair, police started cleanliness drive

The Kanwar Yatra, which started from July 4, has ended tomorrow i.e. on Saturday. Kanwar Yatris who reached Haridwar have gone towards their destinations after getting flooded. More than four crore Shiva devotees had reached Haridwar in the fair. After which all the Kanwariyas left behind more than 1500 metric tonnes of garbage in the Ganga Ghat. After which the Haridwar police started a cleanliness drive today.

There are heaps of plastic at various places on the ghats. Despite the plastic ban, it was used indiscriminately throughout the fair. After which, on Sunday, on the initiative of Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh, a cleanliness drive was conducted at the Vishnu Ghat adopted by the police. After the conclusion of the fair, the police team cleaned the filth spread in and around Vishnu Ghat.

After the fair, a lot of filth was spread everywhere on the ghat. Which was carried out in a big way by the police team and the recruit constables. At the same time, the filth around them was cleared from the general public. Apart from this, the general public was also made aware to clean the filth around them.
