Bodies of 403 followers recovered
Regional Commissioner Rhodes Onyacha said self-proclaimed religious leader Paul Ntheng McKenzie had appealed to his followers to go hungry. According to the police, Paul had told the followers that they would have to die by starvation to attain God. Rhodes Onyacha said investigators were looking for more graves in the forest. He said that the incident came to know on April 13. Since then graves are being searched in the forest and till now many dead bodies have also been recovered.
The court extended the custody of the accused for one month
According to the official autopsy, starvation appears to be the main cause of death. However, some of the victims, including children, had been strangled. At the same time, the main accused in the case are in police custody since mid-April. On July 3, a court had extended the custody of the accused by a month pending investigation.

Self-proclaimed religious leader Paul Natheng McKenzie is facing charges related to terrorism or genocide, state prosecutors have said, but so far the accused has not entered a plea.
