Uttarakhand: Concrete action plan will be made to end child labor, beggary and child marriage, ACS Radha Raturi gave instructions

Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed the concerned departments to prepare a precise action plan in collaboration with NGOs to end child labour, beggary and child marriage from the state at the earliest. ACS Radha Raturi said that instead of institutional rehabilitation of children freed from child labor and beggary, priority should be given to rehabilitation in their own families. To stop child labor and child begging, concerned departments and NGOs will have to work on sustainable solutions. On Tuesday, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, while holding a meeting with Secretary Social Welfare, Secretary School Education, Secretary Labour, police officers and representatives of various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working for child protection and welfare in the state, directed that it is necessary to identify such vulnerable families in the state, whose children turn to child labor and beggary due to their poor economic condition. are rising Such identified families should be ensured the benefits of all the social and welfare schemes run by the government. Along with this, the ACS also directed to prepare an accurate database of drop out children from schools, children who are absent in schools, out of school children at the earliest.

During the meeting, discussion was also held on formation of a high power committee at the government level to end child labour, beggary and child marriage in the state at the earliest. NGOs working for child protection will also play an important role in this committee. Along with this, it was also considered in the meeting to encourage special schools and mobile schools for out-of-school children indulging in begging.

Secretary Radhika Jha, Dr. Ravinath Raman, Major Yogend Yadav, Special Secretary Home Riddhim Agarwal, Additional Secretary Home Nivedita Kukreti, Additional Secretary Amandeep Kaur, Anand Swaroop, DIG P Renuka Devi, Bachpan Bachao Andolan Manish Sharma, Suresh Uniyal and representatives of various NGOs were present in the meeting.
