PM Modi should answer in the House on Manipur violence: Opposition
Sources informed that after considering various options to force PM Narendra Modi to speak in Parliament on Manipur violence, it was decided that this would be an effective way to force the government to initiate a discussion on the issue. Will happen.
Opposition parties demand that PM Modi answer in the House on Manipur violence. At the same time, the government says that it is ready to discuss Manipur, but the opposition is not allowing the discussion.
Amid the ongoing impasse in Parliament, the parties in the opposition Alliance India have made it clear that they will not compromise on their stand that the discussion on Manipur will begin only after the Prime Minister makes a statement in the House. The option of moving a no-confidence motion to compel the PM to speak on Manipur in the House was discussed during a meeting of leaders of the Opposition India Alliance led by Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge at Parliament House on Tuesday morning, sources said.
BJP retaliated on no-confidence motion
The opposition alliance knows that the Modi government has a sufficient majority in the Lok Sabha in the arithmetic of numbers. In such a situation, the option of no-confidence motion is a politically risky deal. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, when asked about the rumors of the opposition bringing a no-confidence motion, said that he is not aware of this move, but if he is doing so, he should know that the last time he moved a no-confidence motion. BJP came back to power with a strong majority of over 300 seats.
If we bring no-confidence motion this time, we will get more than 350 seats. In more than four years, no no-confidence motion against the Modi government has come up in the 17th Lok Sabha. In the 16th Lok Sabha, the no-confidence motion against the Modi government was brought up for the first time on July 20, 2018, in which the NDA government defeated the no-confidence motion by 126 votes against 325.
