Uttarakhand: State Planning Commission abolished, now the future of new Uttarakhand handed over to SETU, order issued

In Uttarakhand, the government has abolished the State Planning Commission. Now the Governor has also approved the formation of State Institute for Empowering and Transforming Uttarakhand (SETU) on the lines of NITI Aayog in the state to achieve the goal of Strong Uttarakhand @ 2025. Recently the cabinet had approved its proposal. After which today on Tuesday, Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram has issued its orders. Setu will work like a think tank in the policy and planning of the state government. Its chairman will be the chief minister. Along with this, Planning Minister will also be appointed as Vice President and three advisors.
This will be the purpose of the bridge
Will prepare an agenda to fulfill the social and personal aspirations of the citizens for development and welfare. According to public needs, will be active to fulfill them. ensure their participation in development. Will include all groups. Equality of opportunities for the youth of the State. Sustainable development while saving the environment. Will ensure transparency by using technology to make government direct and accountable. Will lay emphasis on coordination, community participation and networking for efficient and effective utilization of state resources.
Chief Minister will be the chairman, three centers under the bridge
As per the organizational structure of the bridge, the chief minister will be its chairman. If he is the planning minister, he will nominate a minister for the post of vice-chairman. The CEO will be taken from the free market. It can be an eminent economist or a retired bureaucrat. All ministers will be its members. There will be three centers under SETU and each will have two counselors. In these, there will be economic and employment advisor in Economic and Social Development Center, public policy and good governance advisor in Public Policy and Good Governance Center and urban and semi-urban development advisor and statistics and data and monitoring and evaluation advisor in Evidence-Based Planning Center.
This will be the work of advisors
All these advisors will give advice to the departments and guide them to amend the departmental plans according to time and future needs. Under the Center for Evidence-Based Planning, consultants will provide technical guidance in analysis of available data, data eco system development, survey and chairmanship. Apart from this, will cooperate in monitoring and evaluation and other cells.
Whose responsibility
Speaker: Overall vision and guidance for the development of the state.
Vice President: Guidance of Team Uttarakhand on the advice of Chief Economic Advisor and Chief Secretary.
Chief Secretary: Will act on the recommendations of SETU on various policy and governance matters and preparation of the state budget.
Chief Executive Officer: Will provide strategic and intellectual direction to SETU for the inclusive economic, social and sustainable development of Uttarakhand and lead the day-to-day operations of SETU.
