Uttarakhand: Center gave green signal to projects worth 250 crores, now PWD will be the executive body for these roads, not BRO

Returning after the meeting held in Delhi, PWD Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey informed about the decisions taken in the meeting. He told that about 2000 crore schemes were demanded from the Center for road construction and development. Out of which, keeping in view the priority, schemes worth 250 crore have been approved by the Centre. Let us tell you that Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had a meeting with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and officials of the Public Works Department in Delhi. In which he has given green signal to many schemes of Uttarakhand.
Public Works Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey said that the Government of India provides funds for road and infrastructure development to the states under the CRIF fund every financial year. This time about 2000 crore schemes were sent by the Uttarakhand government for approval from the center, but after revising from the center, the state government once sent 600 crores and the second time for 400 crores project to the center. He told that in the meeting, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami requested Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to approve 10 proposals for the state in view of the condition of the state due to continuous damage to roads and disasters.
With regard to slow working agencies in the state, the state government had requested the Center to change these executive agencies to the state’s Public Works Department as an executive agency. Under which, in view of the slow work being done by the BRO on the road leading to the China border from Simli to Jauljibi, a request was made to change its executive body. He told that this road from Simli to Jauljibi leading to the China border is being double lined. On which BRO is working very slowly.
