PWD secretary action will stop traffic on 75 dangerous bridges of Uttarakhand, investigation will be done on mining near Dhoran bridge of Doon

The government swung into action after the issue of continuous mining under the Dhoran bridge of Dehradun came to the fore. PWD Secretary has issued strict instructions regarding the Awadh mining happening near the bridge. Actually the condition of Dhoran bridge has become so bad that it can collapse anytime. Illegal mining mafia is responsible for this. Due to continuous illegal mining in Uttarakhand, strict steps are being taken by the government on the weak bridges. After conducting a ground report on the Dhoran bridge, which connects a large part of Dehradun with the city, the PWD secretary has taken cognizance of the damage caused to the bridge due to illegal mining being done here. PWD Secretary has said that not only on this bridge of Dehradun, but strict action is being taken by them regarding illegal mining happening around the bridges across the state.

What did the PWD secretary say?

PWD Secretary Pankaj Pandey said that strict action will be taken against illegal miners as well as lease holders who are found mining around 100 meters of the motor bridge on the river contrary to rules and standards. The PWD secretary told that the lease of a lease holder in Pithoragarh has also been canceled by him due to this irregularity. Regarding Dehradun’s Dhoran bridge, Public Works Department Secretary Pankaj Pandey said that he will send his investigation team here to get the bridge inspected. If the bridge is getting damaged due to the mining going on nearby, then strict action will be taken against the miners.

IAS officer Pankaj Pandey says that it is often seen that mining is done against the rules by the people who are allotted mining leases. PWD Secretary Pankaj Pandey says that according to the rules, any kind of mining process is prohibited within a radius of 100 meters around any bridge. If someone is found doing this, there is a provision for action against him under serious sections.

Traffic will be stopped on 75 bridges

While many questions are being raised on one side regarding the motor bridges that are getting damaged continuously across the state, on the other hand, after the collapse of Malan river bridge in Kotdwar, the matter was strongly raised by the Assembly Speaker and Kotdwar MLA. After which there was a stir in the administration. In a hurry, orders were given to audit all such bridges across the state which are in dilapidated condition. Public Works Department Secretary Pankaj Pandey told that the audit report has come to him. It has been found in the report that there are 75 such bridges in the entire state, which are in dilapidated condition. Traffic will be stopped on all these motor bridges. These bridges will be repaired and strengthened.
