Punjab: ‘If he is not able to get justice for his daughter, then he is not entitled to uniform’, ASI reached to the DGP after resigning!

People often accuse the police of inaction, but this is the first time an ASI has raised questions on its own department and reached out to the DGP to resign on Wednesday. The case is related to not taking any action on the complaint of dowry harassment against her daughter’s in-laws. Assistant Sub Inspector Hushinder Rana alleged that despite being a part of the police department, I am not able to get justice for my daughter, so what is the use of this uniform. Now fed up, I am going to submit my resignation to the officials. Now sack him, fire him or take action, doesn’t matter. The ASI has made a serious allegation on the personnel posted at the Women’s Police Station for not taking action against the in-laws of the daughter after taking money. During this, ASI’s daughter was also present.

Daughter says- Papa your department is not doing justice

ASI Hushinder Rana told that he has been doing police job for 35 years. Presently posted in IT Park police station. The ASI along with his daughter met Sector-17 Women’s Police Station Inspector Usha Rani. On not listening to him, DGP Praveer Ranjan reached Sector-9 Police Headquarters to resign.

There the ASI and his daughter were given time to meet IG Rajkumar Singh at 11 am on Thursday. The ASI alleged that since giving the complaint, several times the investigating officer, station in-charge, DSP, SP, SSP have met and pleaded for justice for the daughter. There is always trouble in the house, the daughter says that father, only the people of your department are not giving me justice.

This is the case

The ASI told that he is originally from Yamuna Nagar in Haryana. His elder daughter Parul Rana was married on 29 November 2021 to Suraj Chauhan, a resident of Subhash Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Dehradun.

15 days before the engagement, daughter’s mother-in-law Kiran Chauhan called and said that this ceremony should be held in a good hotel with royal pomp according to her status. Two days later, both the sister-in-laws of the daughter called and said that they want every item branded. They organized the engagement ceremony at Hotel Turquoise, located in the Industrial Area.

Asked for 50 lakhs in shagun

ASI’s daughter Parul Rana alleged that before the wedding, her father-in-law called and said that there should be expensive liquor for their guests. A total of nine lakh rupees was spent on this. According to the in-laws’ side, the wedding ceremony was held at The Palace in Mubarikpur.

During this, his father-in-law Subhash Chauhan and his brother-in-law Veer asked Shagun how much Shagun was giving. On this, his father told that Rs 11 lakh is being put as Shagun. On this, his father-in-law and in-laws side put a demand of Rs 50 lakh and a BMW car. On this the father said that he is spending more than his capacity. He cannot do more than this.

Tortured while pregnant, came to maternal home

Complainant Parul told that after coming to know that she was pregnant, both her sister-in-law, husband and mother-in-law started harassing her. They started planning to get an abortion so that they could get their son married elsewhere. After this, on 14 January 2022, she came to Chandigarh with her father.

After this, his family members took him to the panchayat in Dehradun, but the in-laws refused to keep him. After this, he came back and complained about this to the women’s police station along with the officers of Chandigarh police.

‘After a year and a half only case against husband, mother-in-law and sister-in-law were not even called’

The ASI said that his daughter had given a police complaint against father-in-law Subhash Chauhan, mother-in-law Kiran Chauhan, husband Suraj Chauhan and both the sisters-in-law. Three investigating officers also changed in the case.

It was alleged that earlier two investigating officers had suppressed the case by taking money. After about a year and a half, the police registered a case only against husband Suraj in the case, while the other accused were never even called to the police station. The police never got the daughter and her husband counselled.

Legal action will be taken against the accused

SP Mridul said that a case has been registered against the accused husband Suraj Chauhan in this case. The matter is under investigation. Will definitely take legal action in future also.
