Tamil Nadu / Chennai: First tossed in the air, then the cow repeatedly thrashed the girl child to death

A horrifying video has emerged from MMDA Colony of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. In the video, a 9-year-old girl is seen returning from school with her mother and five-year-old brother. Then a cow mercilessly attacked and thrashed him. The incident was captured in a CCTV camera installed outside the house. The injured girl has been identified as Ayesha. The incident is being told of 9 August.

According to the police, the people of the colony heard the screams of the victim’s mother and drove away the cow that attacked the child. His calf was also driven away. The horrifying video shows the girl being picked up by the cow by its horns and attacked repeatedly. After a strenuous effort to drive away the cattle, the local people managed to rescue the girl and took her to a nearby hospital with severe head injuries. Following a complaint by the child’s mother and further investigation, the 26-year-old owner of the cow has been arrested.

A case has been registered against him for not maintaining the animal properly and letting it roam around, due to which the child got injured. Additional Chief Secretary/Commissioner of Greater Chennai Corporation, J Radhakrishnan met the girl at the private hospital and inquired from the doctors about her injuries and the treatment given to her. GCC said that the child has been discharged after treatment. Describing the incident as “very unfortunate”, Radhakrishnan told reporters that a fine of Rs 25,000 had been imposed on the cattle owner. The cow that attacked the child and its calf has been taken to a cattle shed in Perambur here by the corporation personnel.

It will be ascertained whether the cow is suffering from any infectious disease and whether the attack was due to any disease or not. This year alone, owners have been fined Rs 51 lakh for allowing cattle to roam the roads.
