The issue in Lok Sabha elections 2024 is not that EVMs are manipulated, but that EVMs can be manipulated – Manish Tewari, Congress MP

All parties have started preparations for Lok Sabha elections 2024. On one hand, the opposition is busy expanding and strengthening its alliance. At the same time, the ruling party is also busy expanding its clan. Meanwhile, Congress MP Manish Tiwari has issued a statement saying that the 2024 Lok Sabha elections should be held on ballot papers and not on EVMs. Talking to the news agency, he said, ‘Democracy is so precious that it cannot be left at the mercy of technology. The issue is not that EVMs are manipulated. Rather the issue is that EVMs can be manipulated.

Voting should be done on paper instead of EVM
He said that’s reason enough to go back to paper ballots. For the simple reason that an electronic voting machine is, after all, a machine. The machine can be rigged in any way. The machine can be hacked. This can be banned. This can be messed with. He said, ‘I do not understand this connection of the Election Commission with EVMs. Countries that adopted electronic voting machines eventually had to revert to simple paper ballots. Because EVMs can be interfered with. For this reason, Lok Sabha elections should be held on 2024 ballot papers.
Let us tell you that this is not the first time that an opposition leader or party is talking about voting on ballot papers. Earlier, opposition parties had repeatedly talked about EVM hacking and misuse of EVMs during voting or counting of votes. Often the word EVM is discussed more during elections. Meanwhile, assembly elections are going to be held in many states and Lok Sabha elections in the country. In such a situation, the opposition parties have together formed the I.N.D.I.A alliance. At the same time, NDA is also continuously trying to integrate other parties with itself.
