CBI will investigate Kejriwal’s bungalow renovation case; Vigilance had reported expenditure of Rs 52.71 crore; AAP said- this is a conspiracy of BJP

CBI will now investigate the case of renovation of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s bungalow. The investigating agency has registered a case on Wednesday (September 27).

On May 12, the Vigilance Department had submitted a report to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Saxena regarding the renovation of his bungalow and the office built in its campus. He had told that Rs 52.71 crore has been spent on the bungalow.

After this, on June 18, the Vigilance Department had issued show cause notice to 7 PWD officers, in which they had to give their reply within 15 days.

On this matter, Aam Aadmi Party says that BJP is trying hard to destroy our party. Now they (BJP) want to rein in Kejriwal, hence they are using all the agencies.

However, he has the blessings of 2 crore Delhiites. More than 50 cases have been registered against him so far and investigation has been done. Nothing was found then and nothing will be found even now. No matter how many investigations the BJP conducts, Kejriwal will always fight for the welfare of the common man.

Approval was not taken for any building plan
According to the notice, the old structure of CM Kejriwal’s bungalow was demolished without a survey report. PWD had not even taken approval of any building plan for the construction of the new building. The Chief Minister’s house has been constructed in violation of his rights. His house is much larger than the parameters prescribed by the ministry guidelines.

Rs 33.49 crore spent on home and Rs 19.22 crore spent on office
According to the Vigilance Department’s May 12 report, Rs 33.49 crore was spent on Kejriwal’s house. And Rs 19.22 crore was spent on his office. His old bungalow was demolished and a new bungalow was built.

PWD Minister had proposed changes
According to media reports, in 2020, the then PWD Minister had proposed changes in Kejriwal’s bungalow (6, Flag Staff Road). He had said that a drawing room, two meeting rooms and a dining room with a capacity of 24 people should be built in the bungalow. For this there was a proposal to build the second floor of the bungalow.

However, the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi government had said that the bungalow should be demolished and a new bungalow should be built in the same premises. PWD said the bungalow was built during 1942-43. It has been 80 years since it was built, so it would not be right to build a new floor on top of it.

PWD said that a new bungalow should be built in the same premises. After its completion, Kejriwal will shift there and the old bungalow will be demolished. It was on the basis of this advice that a new bungalow was built there.

BJP had alleged irregularities
BJP had alleged irregularities in the renovation of the CM residence. After this, the Lieutenant Governor had ordered Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar in April to keep the files related to the case safe and submit a factual report to him.

This report was submitted to the Lieutenant Governor on 12 May. It was signed by Special Secretary Vigilance Rajashekhar.

AAP said – Report does not prove crime
AAP has said that BJP has been trying to tarnish Kejriwal’s image for the last 9 years, but they have not succeeded in it. So, now they are targeting his house.

There is nothing in the report to prove that anything wrong has happened. For the first time, an official residence complex has been built for the Chief Minister in Delhi. It includes the Chief Minister’s residence, office secretariat, auditorium and staff quarters.
