Beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will now get gas cylinder for Rs 600, Modi cabinet increased subsidy

Modi cabinet took a big decision on Wednesday (October 4). The Cabinet has increased the subsidy for the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme from Rs 200 to Rs 300. The cabinet had announced a cut of Rs 200 in LPG on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam. Today the amount for the beneficiary of Ujjwala has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said in a press conference after the meeting, “The cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of PM Modi.” We had reduced LPG cylinders by Rs 200 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam. This price reduced from Rs 1100 to Rs 900. The beneficiary of Ujjwala scheme started getting gas for Rs 700. Sisters of beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will now get a subsidy of Rs 300. That means the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will now get gas cylinders for Rs 600.

Ujjwala beneficiaries in Delhi currently pay Rs 703 for a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder, while its market price is Rs 903. After the decision of the Union Cabinet, they will get the cylinder for Rs 603.

What other decisions were taken?
The cabinet also approved the opening of a Central Tribal University in Telangana in the name of the forest deity. This Central Tribal University will be opened at a cost of Rs 889 crore. The cabinet also approved the formation of Central Turmeric Board. PM Modi had also announced this in Telangana.
