Uttarakhand: Bulldozer will roar on 600 houses here, received ultimatum from administration
The Dhami government has adopted a strict stance regarding removal of illegal encroachment from forest land. Action is being taken against encroachment at many places including Dehradun, Nainital.
In this series, the bulldozer of the state government will roar on the illegal construction on forest land in Rishikesh. Six hundred and fifty houses will be demolished here. This action of the administration has created panic among the local residents. Eviction orders were issued from 315 houses in IDPL Rishikesh on Tuesday. After this, on Wednesday the Forest Department served eviction notices to three hundred more families living on forest land. The Forest Department has also created a new record by clearing more than five hundred acres of forest land so far. Public hearing of about 18 hundred people was held in four days. There is resentment among the people living in IDPL Colony regarding the action of the Forest Department. IDPL Colony resident Vijendra Singh says that the officials misled people in the name of survey. They are not being treated properly. Regarding departmental action, DFO Doon Nitish Mani Tripathi said that out of 18 hundred, 600 people have themselves vacated the houses. Whereas, the process of eviction of 625 people has been started. Apart from this, hearing of about 550 people has been held and notices are to be given to them. As soon as they move away from there, about 225 acres of forest land will come to the Forest Department.
