Karnataka: Biryani seller found 1.47 crore cash, 30 UPI QR codes, Commercial Tax Department team that raided was surprised

A raid has been conducted in Hoskote by the Karnataka Commercial Tax Department. Here, action has been taken against many biryani vendors in the case of tax evasion. The distance of Hoskote from the Central Business District of Bengaluru is about 30 kilometers. Where Goods and Services Tax (GST) evasion has been disclosed by the Tax Department.

Hoskote is considered an attractive place for biryani lovers as a late night and early morning drive. Karnataka Commercial Tax Commissioner C Shikha has confirmed the matter. The raid has been conducted by a 50-member Vigilance team. After which cases of tax evasion have come to light.

During this period, cash worth Rs 1 crore 47 lakh was found from the house of a biryani seller. The Income Tax Department has started action against the accused. Commissioner Shikha said that apart from cash transactions, the accused was taking payments through multiple UPI accounts. The matter of repeatedly changing accounts has also come to light.

Shikha told that as part of the planning, the game was being played to hide the turnover and avoid paying tax. No record of the transaction was found with the accused. Nor were bills being given for the goods being sold. The department is continuously keeping an eye on the methods of tax evasion.

There is no limit set by the department regarding cash

Regarding the cash found at home, an officer said that no limit has been set yet. Nothing has been clarified in the Income Tax Act regarding cash at home. But the department conducts a thorough inquiry about the cash found.

The concerned person has to be informed about it. If the account of cash is available, then the person does not face any problem. During this period, many facts related to tax evasion and transactions through UPI accounts have come to light.
