Uttar Pradesh: ‘I will dig and bury you, don’t fly too much in the air…’ Police officer accused of threatening an elderly person
There was an argument between a police officer and local people over setting up a Durga Puja pandal in Siddharthnagar district of UP. During this time, the video of the manner in which the police officer threatened people is going viral. In the video, the officer threatens the people and says – ‘I will dig and bury them. I will cool my mind in old age. Don’t fly too much in the air. Set up the pandal only where the order has been given. Do not do politics in the worship of God. Let us know what is the whole matter… Let us tell you that the incident took place in Tigodwa intersection area of Pathra police station area of Siddharthnagar. Where on October 9, an altercation broke out between CO Dumariyaganj Sujit Kumar Rai and the people setting up the Durga Puja pandal.

According to the villagers, like every year, this year too they were starting the work of setting up Durga Puja pandals on Navratri. The pandal has been established here for the last 30 years. That land is registered in Banjar (village society). The village head does not want to allow a pandal to be built at that place. A case is going on in the Commissioner Court in Basti regarding this matter. This year SDM Pramod Kumar is asking to set up the pandal at another place. Regarding which the people of the pandal committee say that the person who owns the land and house will object if it is shifted to another place. That is why they started setting up the pandal at the old place itself. On which the police officers got enraged.
Villagers told that on October 9, SDM Pramod Kumar and CO of Dumariyaganj circle Sujit Kumar Rai reached the spot with Mayforce and started threatening. An elderly person present there said that let’s install the idol of Mata Ji. It is only a matter of 10, 15 days. CO Saheb was upset at this. He said- ‘I will dig it and bury it. I will cool my mind in old age. Don’t fly in the air.’
At present, the district police officer is not ready to say anything regarding this matter. After the incident, there is doubt whether the tradition of setting up Durga Puja pandals during Navratri for 30 years will continue or will it stop. But there is a lot of anger among the people due to this behavior of the police officer.
According to the villager, CO Saheb got angry as soon as he got down from the car. He started saying – ‘Will there be drama in the name of God? In old age, spoil your mind as much as you like. There will be more orders as much as there has been an order. If anyone does more drama than that, I will dig him up and bury him. Don’t stay in the air. Ban them for Rs 5 lakh and put 122 on them. The mind will cool down. I will make a deer now. Not out of line, just now. Many books will be improved. I will get the house dug.
