IOC: ‘Will leave no stone unturned in organizing 2036 Olympics’, Prime Minister Modi said in the 141st session of IOC
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Jio World Center in Mumbai on Friday. Addressing the 141st session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) here, he said it is a matter of great pride for us to hold the IOC session in India after forty years.
On this occasion, he said that many Indian athletes performed well in the last Olympics. India gave a historic performance in the recently concluded Asian Games. Our young athletes have also created new records in the World University Games held before that. The Prime Minister said, ‘India is very excited to organize the Olympics on its soil. India will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to successfully organize the Olympics in India in the year 2036. This is the dream of 140 crore Indians. We want to fulfill this dream with your support. We are keen to host the 2029 Youth Olympics. I am sure that India will get continued support from the IOC.
On this occasion, International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said, ‘It is a great honor to welcome you all to the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai. We are very happy to be in India – a country that is leading the way in many ways, including the Olympic Games. Your (PM Modi) presence here today is proof of the growing importance of Olympic Games in your country.
India is truly an inspiring place to hold our IOC session, Bach said. He said that it is a country that combines a glorious history and a dynamic present with confidence in the future. Meanwhile, entrepreneur Nita Ambani said, ‘Today the world needs brotherhood and solidarity more than ever. This cannot happen on battlefields, it can only happen on playgrounds.
