Uttarakhand: Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu gave instructions to fire officials to prepare a foolproof plan for the development of fire fighting facilities

Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu held a meeting with officials at the Secretariat regarding improvement in fire services in the state. The Chief Secretary said that a foolproof plan should be prepared for the development of fire fighting facilities in the state. He directed to do a gap analysis of the fire services available in the state and prepare a plan to completely satiate it.

The Chief Secretary said that residential buildings should be built near the fire station only. This will also provide convenience to fire fighters, more personnel will be available at a time. He said that arrangements should be made within the state for fire and other necessary training. Selakuni Fire Station should be developed as a training centre. He also talked about sending them to the training center in Nagpur (Maharashtra) for advanced training programme.

The Chief Secretary directed to pay special attention to rescue courses for floods, landslides and collapsed structures. He also talked about functional integration of SDRF and fire services. Said that a complete action plan should be prepared for upgrading the fire stations. He also directed to ensure availability of fire stations and fire hydrants as per requirement across the state. He instructed to make arrangements for equipment suitable to the geographical conditions of the hilly areas.

On this occasion, Secretary Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha, Inspector General of Police Neeru Garg and Deputy Inspector General of Police Nivedita Kukreti and other senior officials were present.
