Uttarakhand: CM gave instructions for strict action in the case of sexual exploitation of a visually impaired girl, there will be intensive inspection of residential educational institutions running in the state

Taking serious cognizance of the case of sexual exploitation of a visually impaired girl in Goulapar, Haldwani, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions for intensive inspection of residential educational institutions running in the state. In this sequence, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed all the District Magistrates and Senior Superintendents of Police to take action. Last Friday, the police had arrested Shyam Dhanak, general secretary and director of National Association for the Blind (NAB) Nawadkheda, Gaulapar, on charges of sexual exploitation of a visually impaired girl.

Taking serious cognizance of this inhuman incident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that immediate intensive inspection should be conducted in all other residential institutions running in the state, so that such a tragic and heart-wrenching incident is not repeated.

In this matter, on Monday, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has directed the District Magistrates to form a joint team with officials of the concerned department and police and run an awareness campaign in residential educational institutions. He said that if any case of sexual exploitation or abuse of a child comes to notice, then strict legal action should be taken immediately. Also, under the awareness campaign, conduct intensive inspection in the institutions and ensure that the related reports are made available to the government within a month.
