Delhi: Rs 221 crore deposited in laborer’s account, IT raids after reaching village

Rs 221 crore was deposited by opening accounts in ICICI Bank and Axis Bank in the name of Shiv Prasad Nishad, a laborer in Delhi. He came to know when the income tax notice reached his house in Bataniya village of Basti, Uttar Pradesh. When Shiv Prasad, who hurriedly reached the village from Delhi, went to the Income Tax Department office on Tuesday, the officials gave details of the accounts of ICICI and Axis Bank. Shiv Prasad professed ignorance about these accounts.

Delhi does the work of installing tiles

An investigation has been started as to who deposited such a huge amount by opening an account in his name and address, from where and why. Shiv Prasad has been living in Delhi since 2008 and works as a tile installer. When a notice from the Income Tax Department reached his home a week ago, his relatives were stunned.

They only know about their three accounts

Shiv Prasad also reached the village from Delhi on Sunday. On Tuesday he reached Basti office of Income Tax. When officials asked him about his bank accounts, Shiv Prasad gave details of three accounts.

According to Shiv Prasad, he has Rs 300 in his Canara Bank New Delhi account. 29,898 rupees in Lalganj branch of Central Bank. He also has an account in Lalganj post office, in which he has two thousand rupees. Apart from this he does not have any other account.
