Uttarakhand: Harish Rawat demands caste based census, makes serious allegations against BJP government
Former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat made serious allegations against the BJP government. He said that the census should have been conducted in 2021, but the present government kept postponing it. Their demand is that caste based census should be conducted soon. If his government comes to power, this will be one of his priorities in 2024. He said that this is necessary so that it is known what remains to be done for those castes.
He alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched by the Center to end the constitutional reservation. Government posts are not being filled. Class IV posts have been abolished. Sectors like railways, telecom, air, defence, etc. are being sold to capitalists. When these institutions will not exist then there will be no posts and reservation will automatically end.
They have decided to curb this once the Congress government comes to power. Also, it has been decided to assess the vacant posts from 2014. On women’s reservation, he said that the Center has decided to put it on hold till 2033. According to the Centre, first there will be census, then delimitation and after that reservation will be implemented after a long process. Their demand is that just as seats are reserved in civic bodies, seats should be reserved in the Center too. Said that in the 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha, Congress wants reservation for OBC women under a sub-quota.
At the same time, he also spoke openly on the local issues of Doiwala. He alleged that there was corruption in Suryadhar Lake. On which BJP leaders have pointed fingers. He said that a conspiracy is being hatched to sell Doiwala Sugar Mill and the proposed Law University at Ranipokhari is being deliberately stalled. So that the lands around the airport and Doiwala can be sold to the capitalists.
