500 people died in the attack on a hospital in Gaza Strip. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed grief over the attack on Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital and expressed condolences to those killed in the attack. Not only this, PM Modi said that the responsibility of the people involved in this attack should be fixed. PM Modi tweeted and said, Deeply shocked by the tragic loss of life and property in Gaza’s Al Ahli Hospital. Our condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. Civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict are a matter of serious and continuing concern. The people involved in this should be held responsible.
Israel and Hamas accused each other
In fact, amid the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel, 500 people died in the blast at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza Strip. Palestine has claimed that this hospital has been hit by an Israeli airstrike. Whereas Israel has denied these allegations and claimed that the accident occurred due to misfire of a rocket fired by Palestine’s Islamic Jihad.
The Al-Ahli Arab Hospital of Gaza where this attack took place is in Northern Gaza. This hospital is run by the Anglican Church. Due to the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel, thousands of people had taken shelter in this hospital. This is why Palestinian officials say that the death toll in the hospital attack may increase further. Because hundreds of people are still buried under the debris.
War continues between the two countries since October 7
Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. More than 1400 people have been killed in this attack. In response, Israel is continuously carrying out airstrikes on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. So far, more than 3000 people have died in these attacks.
Health centers have been attacked 48 times in Gaza so far
According to Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, this hospital was also hit by a rocket on 14 October. Four hospital staff were injured in that attack. WHO had said on Monday that amid the ongoing war since October 7, there have been 48 attacks on health facilities in Gaza, in which 12 health workers have died. The explosion at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital was so severe that the hospital building was also badly destroyed. Due to this, hundreds of people got buried under the debris of the building, hence help is not even reaching them.
Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas has declared three days of national mourning. Those injured in the horrific attack on Al-Ahli Arab Hospital have been taken to Al Shifa Hospital. Where 30,000 people have already taken shelter.
