Uttarakhand: DRDO scientists prepare electricity and biogas from Pirul leaves
Defense Bioenergy Research Center i.e. DRDO Haldwani has prepared electricity and biogas from pine needles found in the forests of Uttarakhand.
Electricity and biogas prepared from Pirul leaves
DRDO Haldwani has produced electricity and biogas from garbage and biomedical waste as well as pine needles found in the forests of Uttarakhand. Which will prove to be effective in the field of energy in future.
Pirul leaves are being purchased from villagers
Giving information, Union Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhatt said that to prepare products from Pirul, the Forest Department is purchasing Pirul from the villagers at Rs 2 per kg. Debar scientists have invented a biomass gasification plant to trade pine needles. With this machine, up to 10 kilowatts of electricity can be produced with the help of 10 to 15 kg of dry pyrula.
25 kg garbage can be reduced in one hour
Bhatt said that under plasma based gasification system, plasma gasification plant has been established for disposal of waste materials like garbage, plastic, rubber etc. With this machine, 25 kg garbage can be reduced by 95 percent in one hour. With this eco-friendly machine, hazardous waste, non-recyclable waste, medical waste etc. can be converted into ash through plasma based gasification.
People are getting employment
Under this scheme of DRDO Haldwani, the path of self-employment has been opened for the people in pine affected areas. According to the information, a project is providing employment to at least six people and collecting pine needles is becoming a separate source of income.
