Gujarat: 10 people died in one day, people playing Garba are getting heart attacks

There is news of at least 10 people dying in just one day while performing Garba (Gujarat Garba) during Navratri celebrations in Gujarat. These deaths have occurred in different areas of Gujarat. The cause of death is said to be heart attack. Those who died while performing Garba ranged from teenagers to middle-aged people. The festival of Navratri is being celebrated with full enthusiasm in Gujarat. However, during this period, incidents of people having heart attacks while playing Garba are also continuously coming to light.

In just six days of Navratri, emergency ambulance services received 521 calls for heart-related problems and 609 calls for breathlessness. These calls were made between 6 pm and 2 am, the time when Garba celebrations usually take place.

Death while doing garba

A 13-year-old boy, who was a resident of Dabhoi area of ​​Vadodara, has also died. On October 20, a 24-year-old youth suddenly collapsed while playing Garba in Ahmedabad and died. Similarly, in Kapadvanj, a 17 year old boy also died while playing Garba.

17 year old Sagir also died while playing Garba in Kapadvanj. A 55-year-old man died of a heart attack while playing Garba in his society in Vadodara. The news of death of two people while playing Garba has also come from Rajkot.

Instructions to Garba organizers

In view of the increasing problems related to heart and breathing, the Gujarat government and the organizers of the Garba program are taking precautionary measures. The state government issued an alert to all government hospitals and community health centers (CHCs) near Garba sites. Hospitals have been asked to remain on high alert.

The Garba organizers have made arrangements for doctors and ambulances at the venue to ensure the safety of the Garba participants. They have been instructed to make arrangements for speedy entry of ambulances into the program in case of emergency. Apart from this, the organizers have been instructed to give CPR training to their staff and arrange adequate water for the people participating in the Garba program.
