Uttarakhand: Called Congress’ stand on Agniveer martyrdom irresponsible, Bhatt said – trying to take political advantage by spreading rumors
BJP has termed the allegations of Congress leaders regarding Agniveer martyrdom as completely baseless and irresponsible. In an informal conversation with the media, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt said, despite the official statement of the Army giving information about military honor and help of Rs 1 crore to the martyr, the opposition is defaming the great military tradition by making false allegations.
Bhatt said that the Congress high command and on their instigation have accused the state Congress leaders of spreading confusion regarding the Agniveer scheme. He has called it a conspiracy to break the morale of the soldiers who come forward to protect the country. Also said that Agniveer Gavate Akshay Laxman has sacrificed his life during service and he deserves all the achievements as a sacrifice. The Indian Army has also informed in the official information that a total of Rs 1 crore will be given to the family members of Gavate, including non-contributory insurance of Rs 48 lakh, ex-gratia amount of Rs 44 lakh, government’s equal share in 30 percent of the service fund contributed by Agniveer. Even before this, on the unfortunate death of Punjab’s Agniveer Amritpal while on duty, the opposition did politics over not getting military honours. Whereas even at that time the Army had clarified that it does not discriminate in any way between Agniveer and other soldiers. Since the cause of Amritpal’s death was suicide, under the army rules he is being given all kinds of help except military honors.
Bhatt said, due to the different cause of death in both the cases, the post-death process of the Indian Army was different but the same stand of the Congress was to criticize the Army and the military tradition. Even before this, it has been working to spread confusion on the Agniveer scheme implemented for a strong nation and efficient military capability.
He said that when these people were in power, they used to give false statements in the Parliament calling the killing of our soldiers by Pak soldiers an act of terrorists and when they are in opposition, they ask for proof on the bravery of the surgical strike. They call terrorists martyrs and call army general a street hooligan. They shed tears on the death of terrorists and it is they who open the doors of the Supreme Court at night to stop their death sentence.
Bhatt said, the clear policy of all opposition including Congress is to oppose Modi and gain power by any means, even if it means opposing the army and the country. He said that the pain is greater when Congress leaders with nationalist ideas and doing politics in a military-dominated state insult the best Indian Army in the world to please their high command.
