Uttarakhand: Union Cabinet approves Jamrani Dam project, CM Dhami expressed gratitude

Jamrani Dam project got approval
CM Dhami said that with the clearing of the way for the construction of this dam project, the problem of drinking water and irrigation in Haldwani and surrounding areas will be solved. Let us tell you that it is proposed to construct Jamrani Dam of 150.60 meter height on Gaula River, 10 km upstream from Kathgodam in Nainital. About 1,50,000 hectares of cultivable area will benefit from irrigation facility from the project.
Along with this, there is a provision to provide 42 MCM drinking water to Haldwani annually and generate 63 million units of hydro power. Let us tell you that under the Prime Minister Agricultural Irrigation Scheme, approval was given by the Screening Committee of the Ministry of Investment Approval and Jal Shakti for financing the Jamrani Dam Project.
Union Cabinet gave green signal
The proposal was agreed to in the PIB meeting organized by the Finance Ministry in March this year. The approval of Rs. 1730.20 crore from the Government of India is proposed to be provided under 90 percent in PMKSY. The remaining amount will be spent jointly by Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh governments. Now the Union Cabinet has given its green signal to this dam project.
The project was stuck for a long time
It is noteworthy that CM Dhami has been continuously requesting the approval of Jamrani Dam in the meetings held with the Prime Minister for some time. Now the Union Cabinet has given its approval to this important scheme. After which people are sure to get relief from irrigation problems including drinking water in the coming days.
