America bans Iran-based organizations, accuses them of being involved in funding Hamas

The US on Friday announced new sanctions targeting key officials, financial networks and Iran-based organizations linked to Hamas. All of them were involved in financing the terrorist group. The US Treasury Department has given information about these sanctions imposed after the attacks on Israel on October 7.

“Today’s action targets additional assets in Hamas’ investment portfolios and those who are facilitating sanctions relief for Hamas-linked companies,” the Treasury Department said in a statement. Treasury is also sanctioning a Hamas official in Iran and members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as a Gaza-based entity that has funneled illicit Iranian funds to Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). Has worked as a medium.

US Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo said Washington is committed to ending Hamas funding and will not hesitate to take further action. “Today’s action demonstrates America’s commitment to disrupting Hamas’ funding networks by working with our global partners,” he said. “We will not hesitate to take action to further reduce Hamas’s ability to conduct major terrorist attacks by continuing to target its financial activities and sources of funding,” he said.

One of the prominent names sanctioned by the US is Khaled Kaddoumi, a Jordanian citizen and long-time member of Hamas. He is the representative of Hamas in Iran and acts as a liaison between Hamas and the Iranian government. The statement said Kaddoumi works to maintain strong relations with Iran by attending delegation meetings with high-ranking Iranian officials and praising Iranian support for Hamas, including the provision of weapons.
