Before the possible meeting of Biden and Xi Jinping, China gave this bitter statement, what will happen now?
A big statement has come out from China regarding the possible meeting between US President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping. America has also been stunned by this statement of China. China’s Foreign Minister believes that the “road will not be easy” for a possible meeting between Xi Jinping and Joe Biden. There is also very little hope for positive results. Nothing can be said yet about what will happen next after this statement of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. But amidst the tension, both the countries are seeing benefit in improving their relations. According to China, both sides will have to work together to reach results. China’s Foreign Ministry gave this information in a statement issued on Sunday. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also met Biden along with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan during his three-day visit to Washington.
During this time, both sides agreed to work on a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APECF) summit being held in San Francisco in November. A statement issued by China’s Foreign Ministry gave a summary of the discussions held with members of the ‘US strategic community’. Wang said the road to a bilateral meeting was not going to be “easy” and they should not rely on “spontaneity” for it to happen. Wang’s three-day visit to Washington comes at a time when tensions between the two countries are at a peak over various issues, including US restrictions on high technology exports and China’s aggressive posture in the East and South China Seas.
Dispute continues between America and China regarding Taiwan
The statement said that there are many issues between the two sides that need to be resolved, but both sides believe that maintaining dialogue between the US and China is beneficial and necessary for both sides. Referring to Xi Jinping and Biden’s previous meeting at the G20 summit last year, Wang said China and the US need to “return to Bali”, according to a Foreign Ministry statement. In Bali, the heads of state of the two countries also discussed issues of Taiwan, US-China trade tensions as well as cooperation in the fields of climate change, health and food security.
