Famous Maulana Tariq Jameel’s son dies after being shot, police engaged in investigation

Asim Jameel, son of Pakistan’s famous Maulana and Tablighi Jamaat leader Tariq Jameel, has died after being shot. Asim was shot at Tariq Jameel’s house in Talamba, Punjab, after which he was declared dead in the hospital. Tariq Jameel confirmed his son’s death by tweeting at around 10:30 pm on Sunday night. In the initial investigation of the police, the cause of death of 30 year old Asim Jamil has been said to be suicide. Mian Channu’s DSP Mohammad Salim told Pakistan’s newspaper Dawn that he got information about Asim being shot on Saturday night. The family and police took Asim to Talamba Health Center in injured condition. Where doctors declared Asim dead. After this the body was handed over to the family. According to local media reports, Asim was suffering from mental illness for a long time. He also got divorced some time ago, after which he was very upset.

Shot himself after snatching the gun from the guard

Multan Regional Police Officer Sohail Chaudhary said that Asim shot himself in the gym of his home. According to Chaudhary, Asim had gone to the gym built at his home for exercise. Meanwhile, he snatched the pistol from the guard and shot himself in the chest. Police have also obtained CCTV footage of the incident. In the video, Asim can be seen shooting himself. Police have sent the CCTV footage for forensic investigation. After which other things related to the death will become clear. According to Chaudhary, the family has also talked about Asim committing suicide.

Many leaders including Pakistan’s acting Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, Punjab National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf, senior PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz have expressed grief over Asim’s death.
