Odisha: Driver suffered heart attack while driving bus but did not leave steering…saved lives of 48 passengers

The wisdom of a bus driver from Odisha is being discussed everywhere. Actually, the bus driver was going towards his destination carrying passengers and during this time he suffered a heart attack. As soon as he complained of chest pain, the bus driver realized that he was having a heart attack and he immediately crashed the bus into a wall. This saved the lives of 48 passengers on the bus.

Lives of 48 passengers saved

Police said that this night bus was going to Bhubaneswar and there were 48 passengers in it. When the bus driver suddenly suffered a heart attack, he used his common sense and rammed the vehicle into a wall, causing the bus to stop before he breathed his last.

Heart attack while driving a bus

Police said that this incident happened near Paburiya village of Kandhamal district on Friday night. He said that the driver of the bus, identified as Sana Pradhan, started having chest pain while driving and lost control over the steering. Inspector Kalyanmayee Sendha, in-charge of Tikabali police station, said, “He realized that he would not be able to drive further. Hence, he rammed the vehicle into the roadside wall, after which it stopped and the lives of the passengers could be saved.’

Doctors declared him dead

Police said that the private bus, ‘Maa Lakshmi’, usually runs every night from Sarangarh in Kandhamal to state capital Bhubaneswar via G Udayagiri. Police said that after the incident, he was taken to the nearest hospital but the doctors there declared him dead due to cardiac arrest. He told that after some time the bus left for its destination with the passengers and another driver was also with him. He said that Pradhan’s body was handed over to his family after post-mortem.
