Pollution sets new record in Delhi…AQI reaches ‘severe’ category

The level of pollution in Delhi-NCR has reached ‘extremely dangerous’ category. On Friday, the air quality of entire NCR including Delhi, Noida and Gurugram was recorded in ‘severe’ category. The situation can also be understood from the fact that the pollution in Delhi is 100 times more than the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO). In view of the current situation, holidays have been declared in all primary schools in Delhi and people are being advised to go out as little as possible. Amidst all this, the Delhi-NCR area is still found wrapped in a blanket of smog. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality across Delhi remains in the ‘severe’ category. AQI was recorded at 448 in Anand Vihar area, 421 in Jahangirpuri, 435 in Dwarka Sector-8 and 421 around IGI Airport (T3).

Wind may reach ‘dangerous’ category by tomorrow

According to the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), today winds are expected to blow from south-east and east direction. In such a situation, the air quality in Delhi is expected to reach ‘hazardous’ category. If we talk about Sunday, winds will blow from north and east direction. During this period the wind speed is expected to be six kilometers per hour. According to Safar India, last Wednesday the amount of PM 2.5 in Delhi was recorded at around 354, which is in the dangerous category. At the same time, the quantity of PM 10 was recorded at around 552, which is a dangerous level.
