Asian Champions Trophy: Indian women’s hockey team defeated Japan in the final, won the gold medal 4-0

The Indian women’s hockey team won the Asian Champions Trophy hockey title on Sunday. The Indian women’s team won the gold medal by defeating Japan 4-0 in the final match. India has won this title for the second time. Earlier, on Saturday, the country’s daughters defeated Asian Games silver medalist South Korea 2-0 and entered the final of the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament.

According to the information, the final was played at Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi on Sunday. After the win, Hockey India tweeted and announced that each player will be given Rs 3 lakh as reward. Along with this, each member of the support staff will be given Rs 1.5 lakh as reward.

Sangeeta Kumari (17th minute), Neha (46th minute), Lalremsiami (57th minute) and Vandana Kataria (60th minute) scored goals for India. The match started 50 minutes late due to artificial lighting. India maintained possession of the ball in the initial quarter. Japan was also trying hard but Indian goalkeeper Savita Punia foiled Japan’s efforts. By the end of the first half, Japan had several penalty shootouts but Savita along with the team failed all the penalties and saved the goal from being scored. India scored the second goal in the third quarter. After this, Lalremsiami and Vandana Kataria scored two more goals in the last moments, which ensured India’s victory.

The coach praised the players
Indian women’s hockey team coach Jenneke Shopman said that we did not expect to win 4-0 in the final. We are very happy. The fans who came to watch the match encouraged the team a lot. Helped us a lot. Everyone was excited. Indian women’s hockey team captain Savita Punia said that it feels very good. Japan played very well… the only thing we talked about at half time was that we have to play aggressively.
