“Disinformation is a dangerous form”, Rajeev Chandrashekhar on Rashmika Mandanna’s viral video

A morphed video of South actress Rashmika Mandanna has gone viral on social media. This is a deep fake video. Social media users have demanded action on this viral video. After this deep fake video of Rashmika Mandanna’s face went viral, Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar in a post on X has called deep fake videos as the most dangerous and harmful form of misinformation.

He has also reminded the responsibilities of social media platforms on such viral videos which come under the new IT rules implemented in April this year. The minister said that it is the legal responsibility of social media platforms to delete such videos and misinformation within 36 hours of a complaint. He said that if the platforms do not comply, then Rule 7 will apply and the platform can be taken to court by the aggrieved person under the provisions of the IPC.

Let us tell you that this video is of social media influencer Zara Patel who has more than 4,00,000 followers on Instagram. Zara has uploaded this video on her Instagram account. This video itself has been edited and Mandana’s face has been superimposed. While sharing this viral video, Amitabh Bachchan has also demanded action.
