World Cup 2023: Shock to Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan out of the team

Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the team due to injury before Bangladesh’s last match in the World Cup.  Shakib was injured while batting during the match against Sri Lanka in Delhi on 6 November 2023.  Bangladesh team physio Bayazedul Islam Khan informed about the injury and said, “Shakib suffered an injury to his left index finger early in his innings, and continued to bat while taking painkillers. He underwent an X-ray in Delhi after the match which confirmed a fracture of the left PIP joint. He will now take three to four weeks to recover. Shakib will leave for Bangladesh.”

In the match against Sri Lanka, Shakib batted brilliantly and played an important inning of 82 runs on 65 balls. Bangladesh was successful in winning the match only on the basis of his innings. In his innings, Shakib was successful in hitting 12 fours and 2 sixes. In the same match, Shakib also took 2 wickets while bowling. Let us tell you that Bangladesh team is going to play its last match against Australia on 11th November.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews termed the opposition team and captain Shakib Al Hasan’s appeal for his ‘time out’ against Bangladesh as ‘shameful’ and said it has damaged the reputation of the game. Mathews became the first batsman to be ‘timed out’ in international cricket. As soon as he reached the crease and started putting on his helmet, its strap broke.

He indicated to bring another helmet from the dressing room but it took more than two minutes. Meanwhile, Shakib appealed for time out against Mathews and umpire Marais Erasmus declared him out. Matthews said he had done nothing wrong and it was just a equipment malfunction.
