It is being told that due to broken overhead electric wire in Koderma district of Jharkhand on Saturday (November 11), the driver suddenly applied emergency brake on the train going to Delhi, due to which this accident occurred.

Two passengers died due to sudden shock after a Delhi-bound train stopped due to breakage of overhead power wires in Jharkhand’s Koderma district on Saturday, East Central Railway officials said. The accident occurred near Parsabad between Gomoh and Koderma railway stations at 12.05 pm when the driver of the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express applied emergency signal to stop the train after an overhead electric wire fell on it, he said. “As the power supply suddenly stopped, emergency brakes were applied to stop the train and two people died due to the shock,” said Amresh Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager, Dhanbad railway division.

He has told that when the accident occurred the train was running at a speed of 130 km per hour. Movement of trains on the Grand Chord line under ECR’s Dhanbad railway division resumed after being stopped for over four hours following the accident in the Koderma-Gomo section. From the accident site, Purushottam Express was brought to Gomo by diesel engine and sent to Delhi by electric engine. As soon as information about the incident was received, Dhanbad Railway Division Manager KK Sinha reached the spot along with senior officials and started rescue operations.
