Truck carrying equipment to rescue people trapped in Uttarkashi Tunnel falls into ditch, driver dies

A truck went out of control and fell into a ditch near Gujarada under Narendranagar police station area. The truck driver was seriously injured in the incident, police reached the spot on information and admitted the injured driver to the hospital, where he died during treatment. The machine was being taken in the truck from Dehradun to rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel of Uttarkashi.

Truck fell into deep ditch

According to Narendra Nagar police station, last evening the police received information that a truck has fallen into a deep ditch near Gujrada under the police station area. Based on the information, police reached the spot. When we saw, the pieces were blown away due to the truck falling into the ditch. A machine kept in the truck was also damaged. On enquiry, it was found that the machine was being taken from Dehradun to rescue the workers trapped in the Uttarkashi Tunnel.

Driver died during treatment

The information was given to higher officials and the administration team. Narendranagar police station in-charge Gopal Dutt Bhatt said that the police somehow rescued the driver Gaurav (35), resident of Himmatpur Kashipur, trapped in the truck, who was taken to Jolly Grant Hospital for treatment, where the driver died during treatment. Police is taking advance action in the matter. How the incident happened is also being investigated. The police has informed the family members of the deceased about the incident. On receiving information about the incident, there is mourning in the house of the deceased.
