Mahendra Singh told the media that the matter was finalized for Rs 70 thousand and he also gave Rs 55 thousand to the executive engineer. After this, Executive Engineer PK Gupta started demanding ₹ 15 thousand more. The troubled contractor complained about this to Gwalior Lokayukta. After this, the Lokayukta team gave a voice recorder to Mahendra Singh and in it Mahendra Singh recorded the conversation about the bribe transaction.

After obtaining the voice recording, the Lokayukta team sent Mahendra Singh to Executive Engineer PK Gupta by giving him ₹ 15 thousand notes laced with chemicals as bribe.
