Uttarakhand: Drilling advanced beyond 45 meters! Secretary, Uttarakhand Government, Dr. Neeraj Khairwal gave information
A press briefing was held at the Temporary Media Centre, Silkyara on Thursday regarding the Silkyara Tunnel Rescue Operation. Secretary, Uttarakhand Government, Dr. Neeraj Khairwal said that by starting drilling with the auger machine, a total of 45 meters of drilling was completed. After drilling beyond 45 meters, drilling was hampered due to metal pieces (bars) getting stuck in the machine. Late night, workers Pradeep Yadav and Balwinder crawled inside the pipe and cut off the pieces of metal stuck at the mouth of the pipe.
Secretary, Uttarakhand Government, Dr. Neeraj Khairwal said that the further work is also being done with utmost caution. After installing the auger machine again and starting drilling, additional drilling of 1.8 meters has been done. Special precautions are being taken for further drilling. He said that our priority is to do fast drilling while taking utmost care.
During this, MD (NHIDCL) Mahmood Ahmed, District Magistrate Abhishek Ruhela, Director General Information Banshidhar Tiwari, Superintendent of Police Arpan Yaduvanshi were present.
