Fraud of Rs 28 lakh in the name of KBC contest in Uttarakhand, ‘Natwarlal’ arrested from Rishikesh
The district police has arrested a cyber criminal who committed fraud of lakhs of rupees in the name of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC). The arrested accused is a resident of Odisha, who was arrested by the police from Rishikesh city of Dehradun district. The police have already arrested two associates of the accused. Police said that the entire cyber fraud gang was being operated from Odisha.
SP Pithoragarh Lokeshwar Singh said that the complainant Rajendra Singh Karki, resident of Bankot Ganai Gangoli, Berinag had filed a complaint in the Berinag police station on January 4, 2023 that some unknown person had cheated him in different ways by telling him about winning a lottery of Rs 25 lakh in KBC. He was defrauded of Rs 28 lakh. On the basis of the complaint given by the plaintiff, a case was registered under section 420 of IPC against an unknown person in Berinag police station.
After this a team was formed to arrest the accused. After which the police team has arrested the main accused 26-year-old Altaf Ali Warsi, son of Asgar Ali Warsi, resident of Chatursila Khunta, Mayurbhanj Kendrapara, Odisha from Rishikesh, Dehradun. The accused was running here and there for many days to avoid his arrest. Where the police has arrested the accused on the basis of surveillance.
SP Lokeshwar Singh said that the police had already arrested two accused in this entire case. While the main accused was absconding who has been arrested. During interrogation it was revealed that the entire gang operates from Odisha. Both the accused arrested earlier are also residents of Odisha. Police is taking action to bring the accused from Rishikesh to Pithoragarh and present him in the court.
