Something similar happened in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, where the bride kept waiting for the wedding procession, but the groom did not arrive with the wedding procession.

In Shahdol, a neighboring young man first lured the girl into his love trap and physically exploited her and when the wedding hall was decorated, the groom absconded. The young man had promised to marry the girl. The preparations were complete, the bride kept waiting for her groom at the mandap after doing her sixteen adornments, while the groom got nervous even before the wedding and the bride kept waiting. The bride’s side, insulted by the groom’s actions, has complained about the matter to the Shahdol police officer.
This whole matter is of Gram Panchayat Sarangpur of Khairaha police station area of Shahdol. A year ago, the girl living here was physically abused by her neighbor Durgesh Kol, a resident of the same village, against whom the police had registered a case on the complaint of the girl. In this case the young man has even faced jail. The case is pending in Budhar Court. Meanwhile, the young man got ready to marry the girl.
Sarpanch is the sister-in-law of the accused youth
The sister-in-law of the accused youth is the sarpanch of the village. The wedding day was fixed for 23rd November by both the families. Money was arranged by mortgaging land and jewellery. The girl’s parents and family members made complete preparations, but the wedding procession did not come that night. In the complaint made to the police, it was said that the youth’s brother asked for a bike and two lakh rupees as dowry and did not come with the wedding procession. The family members alleged that since the accused youth’s sister-in-law is a sarpanch, a report was not even written in the Khairaha police station.
‘If action is not taken, I will give up my life’
His family is feeling humiliated by this incident. The girl says that if appropriate action is not taken against him, she will commit suicide. In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police Anjulata Patle says that instructions have been given to register the case.
