In ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi raised questions on the trend of wedding ceremonies abroad, said – organize such events in the country only
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (26 November) addressed the 107th edition of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He said that today, 26th November, we can never forget. The terrorists had terrified Mumbai and the entire country, but it is India’s strength that we recovered from that attack and are now crushing terrorism with full courage. Prime Minister Modi raised questions on the practice of some families holding wedding ceremonies abroad and urged to hold such events in the country itself.
I pay tribute to all those who lost their lives in the Mumbai attacks. PM Modi had said that today, 26th November, is very important for another reason also. 1949, on this day the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India. He said that I wish all the countrymen a very happy Constitution Day and together we will definitely fulfill the resolve of a developed India by giving priority to the duties of the citizens.
PM Modi said that considering the time, situation and need of the country, different governments made amendments at different times. But it was also unfortunate that the first amendment to the Constitution was meant to curtail the rights of Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Expression. Through the 44th amendment of the Constitution, the mistakes made during the Emergency were rectified.
It is also very inspiring that some members of the Constituent Assembly were nominated, 15 of whom were women. One such member, Hansa Mehta ji had raised the voice of women’s rights and justice. At that time, India was one of the few countries where women were given the right to vote by the Constitution.
PM Modi said that only when everyone participates in nation building, everyone can develop. I am satisfied that following the same vision of the Constitution makers, the Parliament of India has now passed the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’.
PM Modi said that within the last few days, business worth more than Rs 4 lakh crore has been done in the country on Diwali, Bhaiya Dooj and Chhath. During this period, tremendous enthusiasm was seen among the people to buy products made in India. This campaign of Vocal For Local strengthens the economy of the entire country. Vocal For Local campaign is a guarantee of employment. He said that this is the second consecutive year when the trend of buying some goods by paying cash on the occasion of Diwali is gradually decreasing. That means, now people are making more and more digital payments. This is also very encouraging.
The Prime Minister’s monthly radio program started at 11 am. This program is broadcast at 11 am on the entire network of All India Radio and Doordarshan, All India Radio news website, News on Air mobile app and Narendra Modi mobile app. It will also be live-streamed on the YouTube channels of All India Radio, DD News, PMO and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In his 106th episode of the monthly radio programme, the Prime Minister had stressed on the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign in the show to be aired ahead of Diwali. He said that like every time, this time too our priority during festivals should be ‘Vocal for Local’. PM Modi also talked about thousands of Amrit Kalash Yatras reaching Delhi. He said that the soil will be kept in a huge Bharat Kalash and ‘Amrit Vatika’ will be made in Delhi from this sacred soil.
Earlier in April this year, PM Modi’s monthly radio program had completed its 100th episode, which was broadcast live across the country. Its global telecast also took place on 30 April. This program was also telecast live at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Through the program ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the Prime Minister searched for such personalities of the world who made special contributions in their field, but their contribution could not be known. Today people know such people in the society and not only know them but people are also moving forward with their inspiration.
