Special army team reached Uttarkashi for manual drilling, vertical drilling started

Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue Operation is going on to save the lives of 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel of Chardham All Weather Project. The rescue of workers trapped inside the tunnel for the past fortnight is going on but is getting delayed due to continuous blockage of drilling. However, the health of the workers is fine and food is being supplied to them through pipes.

A special team of the Army reached Uttarkashi for manual drilling in Silkyara Tunnel. Besides, a team from the sewer cleaning company in Mumbai has also been called. Both the teams will play a leading role in manual drilling.

Army will cooperate in manual drilling

Preparations for manual drilling are underway to rescue the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel. For this, the stuck parts of the auger machine are being cut and removed in the escape tunnel. The responsibility of manual drilling has been given to 201 Engineering Regiment. Colonel Deepak Patil, in-charge of the rescue operation, said that the Army will cooperate in manual drilling. The Engineering Regiment has also sent a Nano JCB to the tunnel. This JCB uses vibration during digging.
