The rescue operation to save the lives of 41 workers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel of Chardham All Weather Project (Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue Operation) was successful today. A major success has been achieved in the Uttarkashi Tunnel accident on the 17th day. Finally, the work of safely evacuating the 41 laborers trapped in the tunnel is at the last stage. There was a breakthrough in the tunnel on Tuesday and the workers are being taken out through the escape tunnel.
It may take the whole night to evacuate the workers – NDMA member gave a big update
NDMA member Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain said, “According to me, it will take the whole night to complete this operation.”
After evacuating the workers from the Silkyara tunnel, complete preparations have been made to take them to the hospital. Preparations have been made to airlift the workers. Chinook helicopter is present at Chinyalisaur airstrip. Let us tell you that preparations have been made for emergency in Rishikesh AIIMS also.
