Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar has retired from his post today. In his place, Abhinav Kumar has been appointed the new acting DGP of Uttarakhand. A function was organized on this occasion. At the function, retired DGP Ashok Kumar and newly appointed acting DGP Abhinav Kumar shared their experiences so far.

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar addressed his farewell ceremony. He said, ‘Thank you for organizing this function in my honour. This is the last day of my police service of more than 34 years. This is my last day of wearing khaki uniform. It gave me hundreds of opportunities to serve. Many challenges were also encountered. When I took charge as DGP, we were faced with the challenge of Covid. We faced that challenge boldly.
Acting DGP called it a proud moment
On the other hand, newly appointed DGP of Uttarakhand Abhinav Kumar said in the ceremony, ‘I want to thank the government and the Chief Minister for showing confidence in me. Because being the DGP of a state is a big responsibility. I have been working here in the police force since 1999. When Uttarakhand was formed, I was ASP. Therefore, it is a matter of pride for me that the police force was formed in front of me. Today I have got a chance to lead it. I want to tell everyone that I will try to live up to the expectations.
Ashok Kumar has served so many years in police service
DGP Ashok Kumar, who retired today, served police for a little more than 34 years. There was a challenge of Corona during his tenure. Haridwar Mahakumbh took place. The police was also severely tested during the Kanwar Yatra. Good policing was seen during Chardham Yatra. Along with this, campaigns useful for the society like Operation Smile, Operation Prahar, Operation Maryada, Drugs Free Devbhoomi were run in Uttarakhand under the leadership of DGP Ashok Kumar.
