Uttarakhand: Congress will honor workers engaged in rescue team including rat miners, all MLAs will give their one month salary
Rat miners and other technical laborers who saved the lives of 41 laborers trapped in the Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi are being praised everywhere. Many governments and organizations are honoring him for his work. While the Uttarakhand government has given a reward of Rs 50,000 each to the rat miners, now the Uttarakhand Congress will also honor the workers, rat hole miners and other laborers engaged in rescue work. Regarding this, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, former Congress State President Ganesh Godiyal, PCC Chief Karan Mahara and former MLA Vijaypal Sajwan jointly held a press conference at the Congress state headquarters in Dehradun on Friday.
During this, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya, Deputy Leader of Opposition Bhuvan Kapri, MLA Ravi Bahadur, former state Congress President Pritam Singh joined the online press conference. While talking to the media, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat said that the operation to evacuate the workers from Silkyara Tunnel was successful. For this, the work of all the people involved in the operation and the agencies involved has been praiseworthy. Therefore he deserves congratulations.
Specially congratulating the rat hole miners, he said that they were in a worrying situation when the auger machine failed. Rat hole miners accomplished unprecedented work. He represented India by rising above caste and religion, in which he got success.
He thanked the Congress leadership and said that his party’s leadership remained in touch during this period. Congress party will honor the rat hole miners and all the MLAs will give their one month salary to the rat hole miners. Harish Rawat said that this is not a question of money, but it is his responsibility. Therefore, to show the feeling of a grateful state, Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya has taken the decision.
Harish Rawat says that such challenges will face the Himalayas in future too. If we keep this at the government level then it will be a problem. He said that the Chief Minister is the first citizen of the state, hence he should take the lead. But the ruling party is only engaged in proving the opposition wrong. The ruling party has tunnel vision, but we should learn from the Silkyara Tunnel. The tendency of the ruling party has become tunnelism mentality, but it will have to rise above this and develop bird’s eye thinking.
Former MLA Ganesh Godiyal will also give money
Former state president of Congress Ganesh Godiyal has raised the demand for action against the concerned company. He said that Congress will honor the rat hole miners on its own. All the MLAs have taken this decision and being a former MLA, he himself will contribute an amount equal to one month’s salary of the MLAs.
He also alleged that the Chief Minister himself is taking credit for the workers evacuated from the Silkyara Tunnel. Meanwhile, the party’s state president Karan Mahara said that the government has not learned any lesson from the earlier disasters and the government is also celebrating the exit of the workers evacuated from the tunnel as an event. Mahara said that along with honoring all the people rescued from the tunnel, Congress will also honor the young man Varun Adhikari who played a key role in the rescue operation.
Former MLA Vijaypal Sajwan has raised the demand for CBI investigation against the government related company. He said that if the government does not investigate against the company, Congress will be forced to launch a big agitation. He said that a grand temple of Boukhnag deity is going to be built in Silkyara and Congress will cooperate in it.
