Uttarakhand became the first state to get the maximum number of GI certificates in a day, CM distributed the certificates

Uttarakhand recently got GI tag for 18 products. On Monday, CM Dhami distributed GI certificates at Chief Sevak Sadan. With this, Uttarakhand has become the first state which has received the maximum number of 18 GI certificates in a single day.

CM Dhami distributed GI certificates on Monday at the Chief Sevak Sadan located at the Chief Minister’s residence. Now Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to get the maximum number of 18 GI certificates in a single day. The 18 new GI certificates that the state has received include Uttarakhand Chaulai, Jhangora, Mandua, Red Rice, Almora Lakhori Chilli, Berinag Tea, Burans Sharbat, Ramnagar Nainital Litchi, Ramgarh Peach, Malta, Pahari Tor, Gahat, Kala Bhatt, Bicchubooti fabric, Nainital candle, Kumaoni colored Pichhoda, Chamoli Ramman mask and Likhai wood carving are included.
CM Dhami expressed gratitude to PM Modi
Expressing his gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, CM Dhami said that due to his visionary thinking, today 18 products of Uttarakhand have been able to get certificates with Geographical Indication tag from the Government of India. The Chief Minister also congratulated the producers of the products who were awarded GI tag certificates. He said that today is a historic day for Uttarakhand.
For the first time in the journey of twenty years from the enactment of the GI law in 2003 till 2023, GI certificates have been issued to 18 products of a state simultaneously in a single day. With this achievement, the hill cuisine of Uttarakhand along with many other items and the artists related to them will be greatly benefited and Uttarakhand will get a different identity across the world.
Today is a happy day for Uttarakhand
Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that today is a very happy day for Uttarakhand. He said that 18 products of Uttarakhand including coarse grains Mandua, Jhangora, red rice have simultaneously received Geographical Indication (GI tag). He said that the state has simultaneously received GI tags for 18 products which in itself is a big achievement.
GI Mahotsav will be organized from 12 to 18 January
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that a week-long state level GI Mahotsav will be organized in Dehradun from 12 to 18 January 2024. Let us tell you that till now 27 products of the state have got GI tag. Nine products of Uttarakhand – Tejpat, Basmati rice, Aipan Art, White Rajma of Munsiyari, Ringal Craft, Thulma, Bhotiya Dan, Chiura Oil and Copper products have already received GI tag.
