US elections can become the reason for the rift in Biden-Netanyahu friendship, on which issues both the leaders will face each other
Thousands of people have been killed so far in the Israel-Hamas war from both sides. When there was a ceasefire for a few days, the world felt as if the war would stop, but the ceasefire agreement was broken and the condition of Gaza became worse. A resolution was also brought in the United Nations to re-implement the ceasefire but America vetoed it. With America’s veto, another possibility of ending the war came to a halt. But how long will this war last and how long will America support Israel?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not given any direct answer in this regard, but Israel has said in many forums that the war will continue until all the hostages are released. But in the event of Hamas being ousted from Gaza, there are differences between America and Israel regarding who will have control of Gaza.
US President Joe Biden has said many times that after the war, the reins of Gaza should be handed over to the Palestinian Authority. But Netanyahu has been opposing it. Netanyahu says that the Palestinian Authority also promotes terrorism and Gaza cannot be left in their responsibility.
America and Israel, or rather, our deep and old friends Joe Biden and Benjamin Netanyahu, have very different views on Gaza.
America’s five principles
America’s influence in the countries of the Middle East has decreased amid the Israel-Hamas war. Biden is also no longer as vocal on this issue as before. Last week, Kamala Harris sent a speech to Dubai in place of Biden. This speech is being called the American Red Line. That is, ‘Lakshman Rekha drawn by America’ regarding the war. In the speech, Kamala Harris said, “Biden wants a political solution in the Israel-Palestine area so that the conflict can be ended.”
Describing America’s five principles on the Israel-Hamas war, Kamala Harris said, there will be no occupation again, there will be no forced displacement of people. There should be no cuts to anything in Gaza and it should not be used as a platform for terrorism. Apart from this, the area should not be cordoned off.
Is America disillusioned with Netanyahu?
Elections are coming in America and in this election Biden will have to take the support of Muslims. America has warned Israel several times regarding the safety of civilians. But looking at the circumstances, it seems that Israel is ignoring American advice. Kamala Harris said, “We want to see the Palestinian Authority as the ruler of the West Bank and Gaza. This is also because he is seen as the real representative of the Palestinian people.”
