A month after Diwali, the traditional and historical Diwali of Tarkashi and Tehri is celebrated. Which is known as Mangseer Bagwal. A program was organized on the occasion of Mangseer Bagwal in Uttarkashi on Monday.
Why is Mangseer Bagwal celebrated?
Bagwal of Mangseer is celebrated to celebrate the arrival home of the brave commander of Garhwal, Madho Singh Bhandari after winning the war. Garhwal was ruled by King Mahipat Shah between the years 1627-28. During his reign, Tibetan robbers used to come to Garhwal and loot.
On this the king sent his commander to fight with them. In which Madho Singh Bhandari’s army defeated the Tibetans. Mangseer Bagwal was celebrated by the king to celebrate this historic victory and Madho Singh Bhandari’s return home. Since then till today this Bagwal is celebrated.
