Uttarakhand: Female elephant hit by train, died, child injured, panic in forest department

A female elephant died after being hit by a train in Lalkua, Nainital. While his child was seriously injured. The elephant’s carcass was found lying in a field next to the railway line. There is a stir in the forest department after the incident.

According to the information received, Gola Range Ranger Chandan Singh Adhikari said that the accident took place on the border of Gola and Tanda Range near the crematorium under Lalkuan police station area. The elephant’s dead body was found lying in the field of Tanda Range. While his child was found in critical condition in Golaganj border.
Baby elephant is being treated
The forest department team reached the spot along with the veterinary team and treated the child. According to the information, Pantnagar railway station in-charge said that the loco pilot had left for Bareilly at 3:20 am with the loco engine from Lalkuan station headquarters under Izzat Nagar division.
The accident happened near the cremation ground
Meanwhile, this accident happened near the cremation ground at 3.25 pm. After the accident, the loco pilot stayed at the spot and informed the railway as well as forest officials about the accident. After the officials reached there, he reached Pantnagar railway station at 6:10. Only after this the train was dispatched. At present the injured child is undergoing treatment.
