Uttarakhand: Former DFO Kishan Chand’s property worth Rs 31.88 crore attached by ED

ED has attached assets worth more than Rs 31 crore of Indian Forest Service (IFOS) officer Kishan Chand in Uttarakhand. Please note that this action has been taken under the money laundering case.

The Enforcement Directorate has attached assets worth Rs 31.88 crore of former DFO Kishan Chand. According to the information received, a school building in Haridwar district and a stone crusher plant in Roorkee district have been attached under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Let us tell you that they are owned by DFO Kishan Chand and his family members.

This is the whole matter
Let us tell you that Kishan Chand was working as Divisional Forest Officer. This case is related to the FIR registered against an officer of Vigilance Department of Uttarakhand Government. During the investigation of the case, it was revealed that the attached properties were ‘proceeds of crime’. Along with this, it was revealed that huge amount of cash and checks in the name of third persons were deposited in various accounts.

The amount deposited was used to purchase these properties. Kishan Chand has spent a sum of Rs 41.9 crore on acquisition and purchase of movable and immovable properties as well as other activities during the period from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2017. However, Chand’s income during this period was Rs 9.8 crore.
