Uttarakhand: Rare snow leopard seen in Darma Valley of Pithoragarh

A rare snow leopard has been seen in Darma Valley of Pithoragarh. The sight of snow leopard is considered a sign of good health of the Himalayas. ITBP jawans wanted to take a picture of the snow leopard but it disappeared somewhere in the snow.

Snow leopard is rarely seen by humans. They stay away from human settlements. The areas of the district bordering China are considered their home. This area above 15 thousand feet, which is always covered with snow in Pithoragarh, near the China border, is the natural habitat of snow leopards.
Let us tell you that the soldiers saw the snow leopard near the ITBP post located in Vidang village in Darma valley of Pithoragarh district. The soldiers thought of capturing the picture of this beautiful animal in their cameras but it disappeared before that.
ITBP gave information to the forest department
ITBP informed the Forest Department team about the snow leopard sighting. After which the forest department team reached there. After collecting information about Snow Leopard, the Forest Department team returned. Let us tell you that even before this, in February 2023, snow leopard was seen in Darma Valley of Darma, Vyas, Chaudas Landscape located on the India-China border.

Let us tell you that snow leopards are rarely visible to humans. Their length is 1.4 meters and their weight can be up to 75 kg. The most important thing is that the snow leopard can jump up to a height of 15 meters. It is very agile. They live in snowy areas. Apart from Nanda Devi National Park, these leopards are found in Uttarakhand’s Govind Pashu Vihar, Gangotri National Park, Pithoragarh and high Himalayan areas.
